This illustration represents a Tidewater Atelier design concept, depicting a Character or Folk  costume to be hand-crafted upon order for classical and character repertoire.
The bodice intent is designed in structured bengaline or slub satin, shaped for support and durability while maintaining a clean, traditional villager silhouette. A contrasting center front inset with decorative ribbon lacing provides visual interest and folkloric charm, while short puff sleeves in sheer fabric soften the upper line and enhance movement.
The knee-length skirt is designed with gentle fullness for character work and musicality, finished with a delicate lace hem for refinement and stage clarity. The overall silhouette is intended to remain light, expressive, and suitable for ballet technique
 
This artwork is not a photograph of a finished costume.
It is a watercolor couture rendering intended to communicate silhouette, proportion, and decorative direction. As each costume is made by hand, variations in fabric finish, net layering, and appliqué or trim placement are natural and expected while remaining faithful to the approved design.
The final costume will be constructed from this atelier sketch, interpreted through Tidewater Dancewear’s established performance and couture construction methods.

Tidewater Dancewear retains full artistic and construction authority over all finished garments.
This atelier rendering represents the approved design direction, while final details may be refined during fabrication to ensure proper balance, materials compatibility, and professional performance standards.
Once a design is approved and construction begins, the finished costume is completed according to Tidewater’s couture methods and does not operate as a client-directed, step-by-step custom build.
